Amazon is hosting a Baby Registry Sweepstakes and handing out one $500 Amazon.com gift card per week until March 2014. This started about a month ago but you still have plenty of  time to put your hat in the ring. Just create an Amazon baby registry, add 10 items, and cross your fingers! Just make sure you get your confirmation email within 7 days stating that you have been entered in the contest and don’t unsubscribe from registry related emails.

Even if you aren’t sure that your family and friends will be interested in buying a baby shower gift from Amazon, there are still some good reasons to create a baby registry with them.

• 30 days before your baby shower date, you’ll get a 10% completion discount on eligible items on your registry. So put everything on your registry that you would like to have for your baby because you’ll probably find the cheapest prices on Amazon.
• It is a Universal Registry which means you can add anything from ANY WEBSITE to your registry.
• You have 90 days to return anything so if you change your mind, end up with a duplicate item, or just don’t need something anymore – you can get your money back. You just print a label and it’s picked up at your door step.
• You can use your Amazon Baby Registry as a way to organize yourself and figure out everything you need and want for your baby. I used it as a shopping list so I wouldn’t forget all my choices. At one point, I had several strollers on there, and then I narrowed it down to one after more research.
• And of course, you could win $500 just for creating a registry. It costs you nothing but that gift card could buy your nursery furniture or diapers and wipes for a long time.

I started my free trial after we found out that we were having a girl but the trial was one year back then. You might want to wait until the baby is born so you can use those 3 months when you know which diapers and wipes work best for your baby – and you will be using a lot!

They also have toys if you have a birthday to shop for. The 20% off coupon and Kohl’s Cash can really get you a good deal.

I love Kohl’s but I do prefer shopping in store because it is so clean and bright and beautiful. I just love walking around and looking at everything – especially the kitchen section. I have also scored a lot of baby clothes there for just dollars apiece.

It is easy to miss the Diapers and Wipes coupons page on Amazon. The diapers and wipes coupons recently reset so I thought I would remind you to bookmark that page and start your shopping from there to make sure you get the lowest price possible with Amazon Mom. The coupons switch up with no real predictability but there are always $2 coupons for Huggies diapers and one coupon for Pampers which is $1 or $2 depending – right now they have one of each. Wipes coupons are rare nowadays and are $.50 to $1.00.

There are coupons for other brands as well, like gDiapers and Pull-Ups. These diaper coupons are directly on the product page but you have to scroll down to see it (Huggies example) so I know a lot of moms checkout without even seeing the coupon – see image below.

Pregnant and Considering Stocking Up on Diapers?

If you are pregnant and have decided on disposable diapers, you might be thinking about stocking up and grabbing a box every time the diapers and wipes coupons reset. This is a debatable topic. Some moms say this is a bad idea because your baby might be sensitive to a certain brand or maybe you will end up not liking the diapers you chose for one reason or another. Others say it is a lifesaver to have a bunch of diapers and not have to worry about running to the store when you’re sleep deprived and exhausted. And you do go through a huge number of diapers with a newborn!

Whatever you decide to do, the thing I love about Amazon Mom is the 90 day free return policy. It used to be one year but 90 days is still pretty good. So if you have 5 boxes of Pampers in the closet and they are too small or don’t fit properly or your baby has a reaction to them – you can return all the unopened boxes for free and get your money back in a few days. The boxes are picked up at your door too so it is really easy. I have found Amazon customer service to be so wonderful that I wouldn’t be surprised if they would refund your money on an open box if your baby has a negative reaction to them. I use the Amazon customer service chat and I have always been very impressed with how they handle my concerns. A couple times, they even gave me a $5 credit to apologize for a problem.

If you decide against stocking up – just set up subscribe and save so that diapers are automatically shipped to you. It is not fun to run out of diapers – believe me. My husband and I were so exhausted during the first 2 months that going to the store late at night was really tough. This way you don’t even have to think about it – and the less you have to worry about during the newborn stage, the better!

The Graco Lauren Crib in white is 37% off but you have to grab it quick because there aren’t many left. The Graco Lauren went on sale earlier this week but sold out before I could even post about it. This is the crib we chose and I wrote a review about it awhile ago. I am a big fan and think it is the perfect balance of quality and affordability.
