Melissa and Doug is one of my favorite toy companies because of the quality. I am not against blinking, plastic toys but I really like providing my daughter with wooden toys because they encourage more imaginative play, are more environmentally friendly because they’re biodegradable and recyclable, and they are toxin and chemical free unlike many plastic toys.
The story behind the company is cute too. Doug was too afraid to propose to Melissa so he asked her to start a business with him instead. They started in Doug’s parent’s garage! I am glad their toy company has been so successful and we have a slew of their items lying around our house right at this moment.
Not only are these toys reasonably priced and often discounted on Amazon, the quality is so high that they will last for many years through many siblings. They are great for birthday and Christmas gifts and all around an excellent toy investment.
