Choosing a crib is often the first step in designing a nursery. I knew I wanted a white crib and that I didn’t want to spend an outrageous amount of money. When I saw the Graco Lauren crib, it immediately made my shortlist and we ended up choosing it. Although we were thinking about getting the Gulliver crib from Ikea, it was just a little too simple and small for me. However, I have seen many beautiful nurseries with the Gulliver. It just wasn’t what I was looking for. We’ve had the crib for over 2 years now and I’d like to share my experience with you in case you are looking for some help with deciding on a crib.
Graco Lauren Crib Review
Pros
- Consumer Reports gives it an “excellent” rating in safety, construction and ease of use
- Baby Bargains gives Graco an A- and labels the Graco Lauren as a good budget crib.
- It can convert into a toddler bed, day bed or full sized bed
- It was easy for my husband to put together
- You can get it shipped for free so you don’t have to deal with transporting it from the store
- The white Graco Lauren matches really well with the Ikea Hemnes dresser which can be used in lieu of a changing table – just secure a contoured changing pad on the top of the dresser.
- You don’t need a crib conversion kit, the back of the crib is the headboard (you just need a bed frame)
- It is visually appealing, simple but beautiful
- It isn’t super heavy so it is easy to move around if you want to change the nursery layout
Cons
- Because it is a budget crib, it isn’t as large and sturdy as say, the DaVinci Kalani, for example
- I have read some reviews that complain about a chemical smell but we did NOT experience this
- The crib doesn’t come with a toddler bed rail so you need to buy one
- Overall, we honestly experienced no cons. We love this crib and so does our daughter!
